My sweet daughter Dollfaced Writer tagged me in her January | A Fresh Start, A Blank Slate Tag! We had talked about collaborating to create a “tag” each month and she decided to do it. You can read all about it here on her blog.
Here are the rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you to participate.
- Link back to the original post (this one and Dollfaced Writer’s)
- Attach an image that inspires you regarding the month’s theme (or use the original).
- Talk about what this month’s theme means to you.
- Answer the questions.
- Nominate 3 people to participate.
- Enjoy the rest of your month 🙂
For January, our theme is called: A Fresh Start, A Blank Slate
Dollfaced writer writes, “Of course, with the new year, we are all thinking about last year and what we want to do differently this year. We easily get caught up thinking about everything we did wrong (or what someone else did wrong), and we miss out on making the first month of the year as productive as we can! How about we start January with a Blank Slate? Ask yourself: What do I need to let go of from last year? I think you’ll be surprised when you really think about your answer.”
Okay here are the questions we came up with:
1. Tell us about two things you want to change this year.
Let’s see… I would like to change the way I react to certain situations and be more CALM. I want trust to God with everything I have and stop adding “Christ” to the last name of people around me. Sometimes, I feel so hopeless about certain things and I look to others when I should be looking to Jesus and only Jesus about those things. I’m a flawed human being and people are just people. I have finally learned that as much as someone loves you, they are not Jesus and they cannot save you or meet all of your needs.
I also want to become BOLD and do the things I want to do for others and myself without letting my doubt/fear of disappointment stop me.
2. Do you have a “Word of the Year”? If so, what is it?
I never had a word, but this year I took a quiz from DaySpring. I got Courage.
3. What do you do on New Year’s Eve?
Now that my oldest daughter is married, I usually spend New Year’s Eve with my youngest daughter. I take her to get decorations after Christmas and she likes to make crafts with either me or her older sister for the big night. On New Year’s Eve night, I prefer to stay home where it’s safe and away from lots of people/drunk drivers. I love to throw parties at my house even if it’s only us two gals and New Year’s Eve is always a blast. If my Man isn’t still at work or out-of-town on business, he joins us. We stay up and watch the ball drop on TV in New York. The countdown gets pretty loud at my place! Afterwards, I put my daughter to bed and clean up. Then, I like to have a private party with my Man and make some fireworks of our own…
4. Do you make New Years Resolutions?
Yes, but I NEVER keep more than 1 of them for long. Lol
5. If you answered yes to the previous question, how long do you usually keep your resolutions?
I will do good to make it one full week. No joke!
6. Is there one resolution you make over and over?
You know, I have never been able to give up sugar. Sugar is by far the one earthly addiction I have never been able to overcome. Oh goodness, sweet treats and my Man are two things I just can never get enough of.
7. What do you need to let go of from 2018 as we begin our journey in 2019?
My unmet expectations of people who don’t give a rip about me or my feelings and use me. People are who they are and you will never get certain ones to understand, treat you with respect or care about you like they say they do. Karma really is a… “naughty girl” and I’ve witnessed her in action several times.
For this tag, I nominate these three individuals to participate:
